Langley Farms Neighborhood Guide

A 1923 plat of numbered blocks near the Langley Fork, its lots often combined two and three to a parcel, with three parcels inside the Langley Fork Historic Overlay District.

Langley Farms is a 1923 plat. Fairfax County's subdivision records list it recorded on February 19, 1923 (Deed Book 210, page 142), with a further plat under the name recorded on November 28, 2023 (Deed Book 28035, page 1858), and most of the county's legal descriptions still identify a parcel by the plat's block and lot. Its houses are on Langley Lane, Dogwood Drive, Ridge Street and Waverly Way, and along Georgetown Pike, Chain Bridge Road and Dolley Madison Boulevard, near the Langley Fork, the junction of Georgetown Pike and Chain Bridge Road; three of its parcels lie inside the Langley Fork Historic Overlay District.

Blocks, lots and combined lots

Fairfax County's real estate records list 49 parcels whose legal description names Langley Farms, all zoned R-1, which the county's records describe as residential at one dwelling unit per acre: 40 single-family houses and 9 parcels of vacant land. 22 of the 49 are described as two or more of the plat's lots, whole or in part (Lots 10, 11 and 12 of Block 4, Section 1, for example), which is why the house lots range from 15,000 square feet to about 3.8 acres (165,493 square feet), with a median of about 39,600 square feet. The parcel's legal description, not the street address, says which of the plat's lots a house stands on.

When the houses were built

Ten of the 40 houses carry a recorded year built before 1960, the earliest 1920, and 17 date from 2000 or later; another ten are from the 1990s. The county's records list three houses on Dogwood Drive on an unpaved street.

Inside the Langley Fork Historic Overlay District

Three Langley Farms parcels on Georgetown Pike, two of them houses and one vacant, lie inside the Langley Fork Historic Overlay District, which Fairfax County established in 1980. Inside a historic overlay district, exterior alterations that require a building permit go before the county's Architectural Review Board, and the district's design guidelines say review is only required for work that requires a permit. Whether a parcel is inside the line is a question for the specific address; confirm it with the county before planning exterior work.

Sewer, water and county rules, as of October 2026

All 49 parcels lie inside the county's approved sewer service area. The county's tax records list 33 of the 40 houses as connected to public sewer, 5 where public sewer is listed as not available and 2 where it is listed as available, and 32 as connected to public water, so confirm the connections for a specific address. One parcel reaches a Resource Protection Area mapped under the county's Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance. Fairfax County Public Schools assigns by address; verify any address with the FCPS boundary locator rather than the MLS field.
