Which LCPS schools serve a Leesburg address, where the lines run, and how to confirm it yourself
Leesburg is served by Loudoun County Public Schools, a single countywide division whose attendance zones are drawn without reference to the town line. A Leesburg mailing address therefore tells you almost nothing: the same postal city covers three in-town high school zones plus at least two more out in the county. What follows names the schools and, where the area splits, says where the split falls. Every assignment below was pulled address by address from the district's own boundary listing for the 2026-2027 school year in August 2026. Boundaries change by vote of the School Board; the locator, not this page, is the authority on any given day. This page names which schools serve which addresses. It does not rate, rank or compare them.

LCPS School Attendance Zone Maps →Most in-town addresses fall into one of three chains. Catoctin Elementary (311 Catoctin Circle SW), Evergreen Mill Elementary and Sycolin Creek Elementary feed J. Lupton Simpson Middle (490 Evergreen Mill Road SE) and Loudoun County High School (415 Dry Mill Road SW). Richard and Mildred Loving Elementary (800 North King Street), Leesburg Elementary (323 Plaza Street NE), Ball's Bluff Elementary and Lucketts Elementary feed Smart's Mill Middle (850 North King Street) and Tuscarora High School (801 North King Street) — all three of those secondary-chain buildings sit within a block of one another on North King Street. Cool Spring Elementary (501 Tavistock Drive SE), Frederick Douglass Elementary and John W. Tolbert Jr. Elementary (691 Potomac Station Drive NE) feed Harper Park Middle (701 Potomac Station Drive NE) and Heritage High School (520 Evergreen Mill Road SE). Two further sets carry Leesburg mailing addresses but none of those schools. Lansdowne on the Potomac is Seldens Landing Elementary, Belmont Ridge Middle and Riverside High School. Far-northwestern 20176 parcels, on roads such as Loyalty Road, are Lovettsville Elementary, Harmony Middle and Woodgrove High School. Some rural 20175 parcels southwest of town attend Kenneth W. Culbert Elementary in Hamilton.
Proximity does not predict assignment. J. Lupton Simpson Middle at 490 Evergreen Mill Road SE and Heritage High at 520 Evergreen Mill Road SE stand within sight of one another, yet Simpson's students continue to Loudoun County High School across town, not to Heritage next door. Three lines are worth knowing by name. East Market Street, Route 7 Business, crosses all three high school zones inside about a mile: checked block by block, the 100 through 300 blocks are Tuscarora, the 500 block is Loudoun County, and the 600 block is Heritage. Catoctin Circle divides by arc rather than by side of the street — 102 through 310 Catoctin Circle SW are Catoctin Elementary, Simpson and Loudoun County, while 104 through 210 Catoctin Circle NE, the same road, are Leesburg Elementary, Smart's Mill and Tuscarora. Edwards Ferry Road changes at Goose Creek: the 42900 block, east of town but west of the creek, is Ball's Bluff, Smart's Mill and Tuscarora; the 43200 block, beyond it, is Loving Elementary, Harper Park and Heritage. That last case also shows the pyramid is not clean. River Creek, east of Goose Creek, is zoned to an elementary school on North King Street but to a middle and high school on the far side of town.
There is no lottery or choice round for a neighbourhood school in Loudoun. The School Board sets every attendance zone by legislative act under the Code of Virginia, guided by Policy 6530, Changing School Attendance Zones. A registered student is expected to attend the school assigned to the home address. The district's own boundary tool is explicit that once adopted, a zone takes effect on the first day of the school year it represents, that the Board may alter it as it sees fit, and that no address is guaranteed to keep the same elementary, middle or high school. A household that wants a different school applies through Special Permission, under Policy 8155, School Assignment. The student must first be registered at the assigned home school, and approval turns on capacity at the receiving school and on whether the stated reason qualifies. A transfer you have not been granted is not a basis on which to underwrite a purchase.
Two things sit outside the zoned assignment. The Academies of Loudoun, at 42075 Loudoun Academy Drive in Leesburg, house three application-based programmes: the Academy of Science, the Academy of Engineering and Technology, and the Monroe Advanced Technical Academy. Admission is by countywide application rather than by address, and an admitted student keeps the zoned base high school, attending the Academies on alternating days. Second, LCPS runs a Spanish dual language immersion programme — but not at any Leesburg school. It operates at Potowmack Elementary in Sterling and Sanders Corner Elementary in Ashburn, so a Leesburg address carries no immersion seat by default. Worth knowing as a matter of district habit: LCPS has reconfigured grades in place of redrawing boundaries. For the 2025-2026 through 2027-2028 school years, Independence High School in Brambleton runs its ninth grade as an annex housed inside Brambleton Middle School rather than move a line. Nothing of that kind currently applies in Leesburg.
Dated as of August 2026. On 22 April 2025 the School Board voted to rename Frances Hazel Reid Elementary School; the new name, Richard and Mildred Loving Elementary School, took effect 1 July 2025. Neither the building nor its zone moved — only the name — but public records and third-party portals lag a rename, so a listing or a flyer still naming Frances Hazel Reid is simply out of date. Watson Mountain Middle School, which begins serving grades six through eight in fall 2028, is a Brambleton-area school and does not reach Leesburg. The attendance-zone processes LCPS has published concern Dulles South secondary schools and Ashburn and Dulles North elementary schools; the School Board voted in January 2026 to reconsider changes it had approved that December. All of that is outside Leesburg. On the capital side, the county's improvement programme carries initial design funding for a project at Loudoun County High School on Dry Mill Road. Design funding is neither construction nor a boundary change, and it should not be read as either.
Check the address, not the neighbourhood. Two houses on the same road — the same arc of Catoctin Circle, the same stretch of East Market Street — can sit in different zones. Run the exact house number and ZIP code through the district's boundary listing, which carries both the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years, and keep the printed result with the date on it. Then confirm with the LCPS Division of Planning and GIS Services before your contingency period ends. Treat the school field on a listing as unverified: it is typed in by whoever wrote the listing, it is not fed from the district, and it is not a representation to rely on. One note about the posture of this page. It names which schools serve which addresses and stops there. It does not rate, rank, score or compare them, and it will not link to a source that does. School ratings track neighbourhood demographics closely, and steering buyers by school quality is among the most documented fair-housing violations there is.
